Footwear Policy:
For the safety of our members and the preservation of our courts, only tennis-specific shoes are allowed. Proper tennis shoes can be found online at Tennis Warehouse, Tennis Express, and other tennis sites.
Shoes Not Allowed
1. Running & Jogging Shoes
- Designed for forward motion only (not lateral support).
- Deep grooves trap clay, making them slippery and damaging to the surface.
- Example brands/models: Nike Pegasus, Brooks Glycerin, Asics Gel-Nimbus, Hoka Clifton.
2. Cross-Trainers & Gym Shoes
- Multi-purpose but lack the outsole design for clay court traction.
- Can leave marks or wear unevenly on clay.
- Example models: Nike Metcon, Reebok Nano, Adidas Powerlift.
3. Basketball, Volleyball & Other Court Shoes
- Outsoles are often sticky rubber designed for indoor hardwood, not sliding on clay.
- They can scuff or “grab” too much, damaging the surface.
- Examples: Nike Lebron, Adidas Harden, Mizuno Wave Lightning.
4. Lifestyle Sneakers & Fashion Shoes
- Not designed for sport at all — zero lateral support, soles often flat or decorative.
- Example styles: Converse Chuck Taylors, Vans, Adidas Stan Smiths (casual version), slip-ons.
5. Trail Shoes / Hiking Shoes
- Aggressive lug patterns that dig into and displace clay.
- Example models: Salomon Speedcross, Merrell Moab, Hoka Speedgoat.
6. Sandals, Flip-flops, or Open-Toe Shoes
- Unsafe and provide no support.
- Example: Birkenstocks, Crocs, Tevas.
