Dear Stowe Tennis Club Parents and Juniors,

Welcome to the 2021 Junior Program. In hopes that the most chaotic challenges of the pandemic are behind us, we aim to offer the full selection of programming this year: The Future Stars for 4- to 8-year-olds, the Junior Program for 8- to 14-year-olds, and the High School Practice for 15- to 18-year-olds. Our goal is to provide quality junior tennis instruction as well as fun and engaging programming to develop a love for the sport of tennis among the club's youth. Given the feedback in response to our February survey, among other feedback received, we hope to improve on past versions to make this year’s program as successful as ever. We are delighted to have Kelsey Golonka back as director. She will staff the program with the best local coaching talent and design the daily instruction.

The program’s 2021 dates are Monday June 21st through Friday August 13th.

The 2021 Junior Programming

Swimming Lessons will be offered again this summer. Weeze Hayes will return as the instructor, with lesson details to be announced as soon as finalised.

The Future Stars Program moves to the afternoon on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30pm. For ages 4-8 years old (8 year olds have a choice between the Future Stars and the Junior Program), the program will lay the foundation for tennis skills with instruction based on USTA’s Red Ball coaching curriculum.

Registration is now open, priced weekly with a limited number of spots each week. Sign up for each week individually up to 8 weeks. Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns! We hope to make this new format of Future Stars a success.

The Junior Program (also knowns as the Afternoon Junior Program) will run from 1:00-4:00 pm on Monday through Friday. The program will again feature a 2-hour tennis session from 1-3pm. A 1-hour swim session will be offered from 3-4pm. This swim session will be monitored by the lifeguard on duty and junior coaches.

Mike Tasi returns as our resident pro to teach four days a week. Each week the program will host a special guest to provide additional specialized instruction (including Simba Happy as a guest instructor). Stay tuned for the coaching staff and guests to be announced soon.

We hope to once again offer intra-club match play with neighboring clubs for our junior and high school players (to be determined). We have also been in touch with the USTA Junior League about a new format of 3 on 3 tournaments throughout the summer, with a State Championship tournament in August. As usual, the Junior Club Championships will be run in the final week of the program. More information to be available on matches and tournaments as the season approaches.

Registration is now open for the full 8-week program as well as a limited number of sign-ups for each week individually (we're calling them "drop-ins", so juniors can drop in only on selected weeks).

High School Practice will be on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:00pm and led by Mike Tasi. When possible, inter-club matches will be organized on Thursday evenings, with competition against neighboring clubs to be determined.

Registration is now open. Sign up for each session individually, up to 8 sessions. Please note that we need to have at least 4 high school players per session. If needed, cancel your registration (or notify staff) by the Sunday before at the latest. Players will be notified the Sunday before if practice must be cancelled.

*Additional practice sessions, high school clinics, or match play to be coordinated based on demand, especially in coordination with any special guest instructors that we may host at STC for the Junior Program this summer. Please stay tuned.

*Pool Reminder

Junior members who are 11-15 years old, who have passed the swim test, can swim at the pool without their parents as long as the lifeguard is on duty (1-5pm M-F). Junior members under 11 must be out of the pool at 4pm at the conclusion of the Junior Program.

How to Register

Registration is open only to current members now through April 15th, after which families on our waitlist and/or a limited number of non-member families will be considered as space allows.

You will need to log in before registering. Your login will be created and emailed to you after you pay dues for your family. Therefore, please first pay your dues, then wait to receive the confirmation email with your new account information, then use that information to log in to this page ("log in" in the top right corner). Registration for the Future Stars, the Junior Program and the High School Practice can be found listed below.

Registration is handled by the Events feature that came with our new website. Therefore, some accommodations had to be made to make the sign-up process work for the program's needs, and some patience may be needed. The use of this Events feature will be reconsidered next season, so feedback is welcome...

Here's what you need to know to register:

To register more than one child, or to sign-up for more than one week, select your first child or week, then fill out the necessary info, then select the "Invoice Me" option on the payment page. There, select the "New Registration" button to create a new registration for the same event.

When finished all registrations and all invoicing for all the desired events, go to your member profile (your name in the top right corner), then "Invoices and Payments", then pay the total combined invoice online with credit card. (The "View/Pay Invoice" shown above will only bring you to the current invoice and a single registration. To pay for multiple registrations at once, follow the above instructions).

To view your current event registrations, again go to your profile (login and select your name in the top right corner). Go to "My Event Registrations".

To cancel a registration, from "My Event Registrations" click on the desired reservation, and select "Cancel Registration". Contact us for refunds (must cancel by Sunday June 13th for a refund).

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

We're greatly looking forward to vibrant, fun, and well-organized junior programming this summer!

See you at the club,

Elle and Kelsey
